Sarah Saw is a weekly section on here where I’ll review a film or book, old or new that I’ve recently watched/read.
Title: The Fault In Our Stars
Author: John Green
Genre: Young Adult
After reading Looking For Alaska, I was a little cynical towards John Green’s books. It was a beautiful book, sure but definitely not worth the hype. His fans seem, for the most part obsessive and I couldn’t bring myself to trust what they said about this book after the shattering disappointment of Looking For Alaska.
I’m quite pleased to say I was entirely wrong. This book was one of few that managed to get me to sit and read it all in one go. The characters were far more real than those in Looking For Alaska, I could not only relate to them but assign them to people I grew up with. The love story was realistic; there were cracks, insecurities, fears but that’s what made it beautiful. The story was heartbreaking, magical, addictive and, strangely, at times, very funny. It’s the kind of book that sticks with you for a lifetime.
